International Students
Eligible
Aarhus University offers a limited number of Danish State Scholarships to highly qualified international students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland. For selected Master's programmes under the Faculty of Technical Sciences, successful scholarship recipients may receive a 100% tuition-fee waiver. Scholarship consideration is highly competitive and is based primarily on the academic qualifications of eligible applicants. Applicants do not submit a separate scholarship application. Eligible non-EU/EEA students who apply for admission to an eligible Master's programme by the applicable scholarship deadline are automatically considered for available tuition-fee waivers. For the February 2027 winter intake, Aarhus University currently offers several English-taught Technical Sciences Master's programmes, including Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering, Civil and Architectural Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Technology Based Business Development. Afghan nationals are eligible to apply as non-EU/EEA applicants, provided they satisfy the academic, English-language, documentation and programme-specific admission requirements. The scholarship covers the recipient's tuition fee but does not automatically include accommodation, living expenses, travel, visa costs or a monthly living stipend. Scholarship availability is limited, and admission to a Master's programme does not guarantee receipt of a tuition waiver.

Academic Requirements
Applicants must hold or be completing a relevant Bachelor's degree that satisfies the specific academic prerequisites of the selected Aarhus University Master's programme. Admission requirements differ by programme and may include minimum ECTS credits or prior coursework in engineering, mathematics, physics, programming, chemistry, biotechnology or other relevant subjects. Applicants must review the programme-specific admission requirements before applying.
Language Requirements
Applicants must satisfy Aarhus University's English-language requirements for the selected Master's programme. Accepted tests, minimum scores and exemptions should be verified through the official programme and English-language requirement pages.
Age Requirements
No general scholarship age limit stated.
Work Experience Requirements
No general work-experience requirement applies to the regular full-time Master's programmes. Applicants should note that work-integrated Master's variants have separate employment requirements and should not be confused with the regular programmes.
Other Eligibility Notes
Applicants must be citizens of countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland and normally be liable to pay tuition fees at Aarhus University. Scholarship recipients are selected competitively from qualified applicants. Application Instructions
1: Choose one of the eligible Aarhus University Master's programmes available for the February 2027 intake. 2: Review the programme-specific academic requirements carefully. 3: Check that you meet the University's English-language requirements. 4: Prepare your Bachelor's documentation, transcripts, passport and any programme-specific appendix required for international applicants. 5: Submit the Master's admission application through Aarhus University's official online application system no later than 15 September 2026 at midnight CET. 6: No separate Danish State Scholarship application is required. Eligible non-EU/EEA applicants are considered for available tuition-fee waivers through the admission process. 7: Monitor your application account and respond promptly if Aarhus University requests additional documentation. 8: If selected, follow the University's instructions regarding admission acceptance, residence permit procedures and enrolment.
Selection Process
Scholarship recipients are selected competitively from qualified non-EU/EEA applicants. Selection primarily considers the applicant's academic qualifications and overall strength relative to other eligible candidates applying to the same Master's programme. Meeting the admission requirements does not guarantee a scholarship, and the number of available tuition waivers is limited.
Important Notes
This scholarship provides a 100% tuition-fee waiver for selected students in eligible Technical Sciences Master's programmes. It should not be described as a full living-cost scholarship because accommodation, food, travel, visa/residence costs and other personal expenses are not automatically covered. There is no separate scholarship application; eligible applicants are assessed when they apply for Master's admission by the scholarship deadline. Programme-specific academic requirements differ significantly, so applicants must verify eligibility for their chosen Master's degree before applying.
