Academic Requirements

Bachelor: Applicants must hold a High School diploma or equivalent and must not already hold a Bachelor's degree. Master: Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree and must not already hold a Master's degree. PhD: Applicants must hold a Master's degree and must not already hold a Doctoral degree. Academic certificates and transcripts must be submitted in English or Bahasa Indonesia according to UMS requirements.

Language Requirements

Bachelor: TOEFL ITP: minimum 477 TOEFL iBT: minimum 53 IELTS: minimum 5.5 TOEIC: minimum 510 Master: TOEFL ITP: minimum 500 TOEFL iBT: minimum 61 IELTS: minimum 6.0 TOEIC: minimum 575 PhD: TOEFL ITP: minimum 530 TOEFL iBT: minimum 71 IELTS: minimum 6.0 TOEIC: minimum 640 English certificates should normally have been obtained within the previous two years. Applicants from English-speaking countries or applicants whose previous study program was taught in English may be exempt from submitting a standardized English proficiency certificate if they provide official proof from their previous institution.

Selection Process

Applications are reviewed by Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta based on academic qualifications, eligibility, submitted documents, language proficiency, and the requirements of the selected study program. Scholarship funding may be awarded under Fully Funded or Partially Funded schemes.

Important Notes

Scholarship benefits vary between Fully Funded and Partially Funded schemes. Applicants should check the language of instruction for their chosen program because many UMS programs are taught in Bahasa Indonesia, while selected international programs are available in English or Arabic. English proficiency certificates generally must have been obtained within the last two years. Applicants whose previous education was conducted in English may qualify for an English-language certificate exemption with official proof from their institution.
