The scholarship is intended for academically exceptional students applying to selected LLM programmes at Amsterdam Law School. Eligible programmes currently include International and European Law, Transnational and European Private Law, Law & Finance, and International Criminal Law. Selection is based primarily on academic excellence and the overall strength of the applicant's profile. Amsterdam Law School considers academic performance, the quality of the scholarship motivation letter, the applicant's CV, and the overall quality of the application. Applicants are expected to demonstrate academic achievement comparable to the highest level in their previous education. For the 2026–2027 academic year, the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship is valued at €25,900.
