The European Master in Law, Data and Artificial Intelligence (EMILDAI) is an international interdisciplinary joint Master’s programme designed to prepare graduates for the complex legal, technical, ethical and regulatory challenges created by artificial intelligence and the data-driven economy. Coordinated by Dublin City University (Ireland), EMILDAI is delivered by an international consortium that currently includes Avignon Université (France), Universidad de León (Spain), Università di Pisa (Italy), Erasmus University Rotterdam (the Netherlands), and Fundação Getulio Vargas in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). The two-year programme brings together law and computing, allowing students to develop interdisciplinary expertise while following specialised study tracks. Current areas of specialisation include Data Governance and Compliance, Cybersecurity, Fundamental Rights and Sustainability, and Global Digital Regulation. EMILDAI is particularly relevant for students interested in artificial intelligence regulation, data protection, cybersecurity, digital rights, technology law, AI governance and the responsible development and use of emerging technologies. Students benefit from an international learning environment involving multiple partner institutions, research activities and engagement with public and private organisations. The programme is designed to develop graduates capable of working across legal, technological, policy, regulatory and research environments. Funding arrangements vary between programme editions. The current 2026–2028 edition offers partial fee waivers and EMILDAI Merit Scholarships, while the full Erasmus Mundus Scholarship is not available for that edition. Applicants interested in the 2027 intake should monitor the official EMILDAI website for confirmation of available scholarships, application dates and funding conditions before applying.

Application Instructions
Applicants must submit an online application through the application system designated by EMILDAI and Dublin City University. Before applying, candidates should verify that they satisfy the academic and language requirements for their preferred study stream and track. Applicants should prepare their academic documents, evidence of language competence, CV, personal statement and referee details before submission. Scholarship and fee-waiver consideration depends on the funding arrangements and application round announced for the relevant intake. Applicants for 2027 should follow the official EMILDAI website for the publication of final application dates, funding opportunities and application instructions.
Selection Process
Applications are initially reviewed by Dublin City University as the coordinating institution to verify eligibility and completeness. Eligible applications are assessed by a Student Selection Committee representing the partner universities. Under the currently published selection methodology, candidates are ranked according to academic merit (70%), relevant professional experience (20%) and personal statement (10%). The selection committee may arrange a remote interview where necessary. Final criteria for the 2027 intake should be verified when the new call is published.
